Candidate can sit in any of the following locations: Nashville, New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Atlanta.ResponsibilitiesProduction of contract documents including plans and specificationsPerforms heating/cooling and system sizing calculationsDevelops Process and Control schematicsPrepares contract drawings and specificationsDevelops Control descriptionsMentors and trains entry-level mechanical engineersPrepares construction and design cost estimatesManages the mechanical HVAC and odor control portion of small to medium sized projects for water and wastewater treatment facilitiesInterfaces with client and internal project management teamWorks with multi-discipline project teamsPrepares technical memorandums and reportsWorks as part of the project team and to effectively complete one or more portions of large or complex tasksWorks with experienced mechanical engineers to develop mechanical design and analysis approachFollows selected design approach through completion of analysis, detailing and presentationRecognizes results for discrepancies or inconsistenciesAttends to details in preparation or review of calculations, drawings, and specifications; works logically and is technically consistent with design standards and accuracyImproves technical knowledge and skillsConsiders and refines existing standards and approaches for application to specific projectsMaintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team membersPlans work so that broad tasks and specific details are correctly sequenced and followed through to completionBack checks work for approach and correctnessMonitors scope, schedule, and budgetUnderstands and implements company and client technical standards on projectsControls the work for a small project or an element of a larger projectProductively works through conflict to keep the project moving forwardTravel required when requestedMakes site visits to observe during construction and operationQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering4-8 years of experience working with custom HVAC equipment, odor control, fire detection and protection and miscellaneous water systems for water and wastewater facilitiesRegistration as a Professional EngineerProficiency in the design of mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilitiesComprehensive knowledge and understanding of national and local energy codesStrong knowledge of NFPA 820Strong knowledge of design of HVAC and odor control systemsStrong knowledge of hazardous/classified area designAbility to read and understand P&IDs, control strategies, and the development of control schematics based upon these documentsAbility to work with multi-discipline project teamsHighly motivated self-starter with the ability to productively as part of a structural engineering project including senior level structural engineering staff and CADD techniciansAbility to make basic technical decisions regarding analysis and detailingAbility to work independently to effectively complete routine tasksListens and understands the concerns and needs with other office and team membersAbility to control behavior under situations involving pressure, conflict and uncertaintyStrong verbal and written communications skills that are well organized and persuasiveComfortable in public speaking rolesPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringExperience with MicroStation or AutoCADPay Range$99,800 to $143,000 annually (compensation range shown for New York location only). This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
