Primary Function: The Civil Engineer will provide design services to support high-voltage electrical substation and transmission projects. The position works closely with project managers, vendors, and internal engineering teams to ensure efficient and accurate civil site development. This role is vital for projects involving site grading, drainage, and land surveys.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and modify civil site development design documents.
  • Use project-specific standards to ensure designs are developed efficiently and accurately.
  • Prepare detailed site development drawings, including grading and drainage plans.
  • Apply engineering software for site design tasks, including stormwater modeling and land surveying.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, ACI).
  • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Utilize the company’s document management system to track and maintain design files.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and quality of all design work.
  • Perform other duties as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil site development design, with expertise in areas like grading, drainage, stormwater, surveying, and earthwork.
    • Strong knowledge of engineering standards and best practices for civil engineering, particularly in the power and electrical infrastructure sectors.
    • Ability to obtain professional engineer licensure within 1-2 years if not already licensed.
    • Proficiency in engineering design software and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Excellent communication and coordination skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 10%).

    Physical Requirements:

    This position primarily involves desk work, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods. Some travel to project sites may be required. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may also be necessary.
