Big-D Construction has an opportunity for a Field Engineer to join our team of construction professionals based out of St. Paul, MN.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a high level of compliance with safety requirements across all areas of the project. Maintains required safety training and enforces company safety policies.
  • Manages and organizes all quality control checklists within area of responsibility.
  • Verifies that all ongoing and completed work complies with contract documents.
  • Motivates those around them and maintains high level of production and morale.
  • Assists with field inspections with various entities (municipal, 3rd party, designers etc.)
  • Understands contractual responsibilities, contract documents and specifications.
  • Assist with shop drawing and submittal reviews.
  • Assists in project information flow internally and externally
  • Assists with daily reporting as delegated by Area Superintendent, Project Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
  • Monitors activities at construction sites.
  • Ensure construction progresses as scheduled.
  • Preparation of lift drawings.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and track Delivery schedules. Verify materials delivered to the job comply with the project specifications and Contract Documents.
  • Assist in creating punch lists, direct/schedule subcontractors to make corrections and verifies that all deficiencies are abated.
  • Direct/coordinate a small crew(s) (self-perform or subcontractors)
  • Direct/coordinate a small scope of work with guidance from an Area Superintendent, Project Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
  • Site layout and surveying.
  • Assist in creating punch lists, direct/schedule subcontractors to make corrections and verifies that all deficiencies are abated.
    Other duties as requested.

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must reside in or have immediate plans to relocate to the St. Paul area.
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in construction management, engineering or related field experience with 3 months to 2 years’ experience.
  • Experience is not required but highly preferred.
  • 2+ years as a tradesman in the construction industry.
