Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)

We are actively hiring a Senior Information Security System Engineer (ISSE) with TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to join our team working in Chantilly, VA. You will support accreditation and security assessments on complex network and system infrastructure. The selected individual will be embedded with a team of technical engineers and matrixed with other security engineers working on solving challenging issues on a large mission program. The position requires a solid understanding of security practices and policies as well as hands-on vulnerability testing experience. The selected individual will collaborate with other engineers and technical experts in providing improvements to our operational and test systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Validating and verifying system security requirements and establishing system security designs for large-scale systems, major system elements, and interfacing systems.
  2. Identifying and implementing appropriate information security architectures and functionality to ensure uniform application of security policy and enterprise solutions.
  3. Recommending and developing technical solutions, products, and standards based on current and desired system security architecture.
  4. Assessing and mitigating system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle.
  5. Leading and/or contributing to the security planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification and awareness activities.
  6. Effectively collaborating with other internal technical experts.
  7. Communicating with Program Managers and POCs from customer organizations regarding significant security issues.
  8. Working closely with System Engineering and Network Engineering teams to ensure compliance with security requirements.
  9. Analyzing and assessing system implementation against multiple security compliance policies.
  10. Evaluating security solutions to ensure they meet customer requirements.
  11. Evaluating the impact of new development on the operational security posture of the system.
  12. Evaluating, reviewing, and testing critical software.
  13. Proposing, assessing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing information systems security policies.
  14. Auditing and assessing system security configuration settings using common methodologies and tools.
  15. Managing and enforcing security strategies and policies for geographically distributed systems.
  16. Providing configuration management for security-relevant information system software.
  17. Serving as a subject matter expert in security architecture.
  18. Formulating security compliance requirements for new system features.
  19. Identifying and remediating security issues throughout the system.
  20. Supporting risk assessment, risk management, security control assessment, continuous monitoring, and other IA program support functions.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related discipline and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  3. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  4. Must have a solid understanding of security practices and policies and hands-on vulnerability testing experience.
  5. Must have experience applying Risk Management Framework.
  6. Must have experience formulating and assessing IT security policy.
  7. Must have demonstrated knowledge of common security tools, such as Nessus, NMAP, and Wireshark.
  8. Must have experience with secure configurations of commonly used desktop and server operating systems.
  9. Must be comfortable working on multiple systems and components simultaneously.
  10. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Must be committed to adopting and adhering to best practices.
  12. Must be capable of performing high-quality work both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment.
