DescriptionThe OpportunityUlteig is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Design Electrical Engineer working in the Automation, Integration, and System Protection (AISP) Department. The Design Electrical Engineer will perform routine engineering tasks primarily in the system protection and SCADA disciplines.What You'll DoPerforms short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis, time-current coordination, step-distance coordination, relay settings development, NERC compliance, and coordination studiesApply protection system engineering practices and principles in the following areas: transmission line, bus, transformer, capacitor bank, reactor bank, feeder, generator, motor, and communication-assisted protection schemesCreate SCADA point lists, remote terminal unit (RTU) programs, human-machine interfaces (HMI's), meter programs, metering overviews, and calculations under the supervision of a lead engineerDevelop complete design packages for site network and communication architectures compliant with the client and regulatory requirementsWhat We Expect from YouBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. ABET-accredited program or equivalent requiredPassed the EIT exam, preferredAt least 2 years of engineering experience requiredProven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasksDevelops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineering practicePractices efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selectionRecommends alterations to development and design to improve qualityWorks closely with engineering technicians and experienced electrical engineersPerforms detailed engineering design and evaluations within specialtyTakes ownership of qualityResponsible for completing tasks and projects in the allotted timePrepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projectsMay participate in marketing, sales, and business development activities within an assigned marketDemonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitudeWilling to travel 10-20% of the yearEffectively communicates and interacts with clients to ensure we are meeting their needsWorks closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projectsMust have authorization to work permanently in the USMust have a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain prior to starting dateAs you consider applying for a position at Ulteig, we encourage you to think outside the box - because we do!
