Overview
RFA is currently seeking a skilled Production Engineer II who can provide daily support to the organization and its employees for media production, including but not limited to Master Control (MC) Operations, technical direction for live radio & streaming broadcasts, and other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position based in our Washington DC office.
Responsibilities
  • Uses all RFA broadcast audiovisual production equipment and systems to achieve quality broadcasts and broadcast streams that adhere to professional standards with one error or less per month between Master Control (MC) and studio tasks.
  • Performs advanced in-studio and MC trouble-shooting, and completes production reports and records as required. Helps the Shift Supervisor manage the work shift's daily operations when required.
  • Processes audiovisual feeds from government institutions and reporters worldwide, and posts these for access by RFA broadcasters.
  • Routes programs to correct locations determined by the MC Log. Provides quality assurance for every broadcast program. Tracks and records every routing that occurs in MC.
  • Performs scheduled or on-demand testing of RFA audiovisual delivery systems internally, with bureaus and the field. Writes SOPs for RFA's Tech Wiki and/or provides content updates for RFA's Intranet. Trains broadcasters on production and/or trains MC contractors and PEIs on MC and studio operations.
  • Acts as technical director for in-studio live radio broadcasts, adhering to professional audio standards. Performs camera operator and TD duties in the studios.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university or technical school with major course work in a broadcast related field and two years professional experience, or
Experience
  • 4 years related professional work experience or equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in operating audio and video production equipment, including consoles, mixers, cameras, microphones, and related hardware.
  • Knowledge of broadcasting software and editing programs and similar tools.
  • Experience in audiovisual post-production techniques
Competencies
  • Effective communication skills to work closely with producers, directors, and other team members to understand their production needs.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly, especially during live broadcasts
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn new technologies and stay up-to-date with industry trends.

Salary Range: $80,000-100,000/Year
