The Senior Aerospace Design Engineer works within a team to design and develop new UAV systems while supporting and improving existing systems. The Senior Aerospace Design Engineer owns the development from conception through production. The Senior Aerospace Design Engineer is a professional expert who leads and mentors others.
Responsibilities
- Owns the development of new UAV systems and components from concept through production.
- Perform trade studies, aircraft performance analysis, and testing.
- Creates CAD models for new and existing aircraft components.
- Assists engineering and production teams in resolving issues.
- Communicates across disciplines and with leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Experience with aircraft conceptual design and performance analysis.
- 5+ years of experience in designing complex mechanical assemblies for UAVs or a closely related field.
- Experience with composite material design.
- Proficient in creating 3D CAD models including surface modeling techniques.
- Experience creating production quality engineering drawings of mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Experience with part dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Outlook).
- Advanced skills in 3D CAD, FEM analysis, CFD, Matlab (or similar) software.
- Understanding of GD&T.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work cooperatively on a team.
