As a Senior Systems Software Engineer at Collins Aerospace, YOU are supporting the development of state-of-the-art flight critical embedded software for military and commercial aviation applications. YOU are a member of the engineering team responsible for the design, development, and verification of real-time embedded software. YOU will collaborate with a group of systems, software and verification engineers throughout the various stages of software development. Your responsibilities will include writing, reviewing, and verifying software requirements for Engine and Control Systems.

What You Will Do

  • You will work in a team environment, engage in full life-cycle development (plan, design, verify) of environmental and airframe software control systems.
  • You will drive improvement of systems/software engineering processes.
  • You will interface with the certification authorities.
  • You will interface with many key stakeholders of the overall Software Product.
  • You will coordinate tasks.
  • You will perform Software Design, Development, and Verification Tasks.
  • You will review software requirements to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • You will manage implementation of software requirements using design models (flow diagrams) and/or software code (proprietary language).
  • You will review software design and code to ensure compliance with software requirements.
  • You will generate, review and run test scripts and review the resulting data to support software verification test activities.
  • You will generate documents to support software certification.

What You Will Learn

  • You will learn how to work in a team environment and engage in full life cycle development as a credible system software engineer, gaining niche skills in the aerospace industry.
  • You will help to expand our software engineering team to allow us to better focus on customer satisfaction related to quality, schedule, process, and cost.
  • You will support software certifications of commercial aircraft, support customer investigations, and troubleshoot deficiencies in existing software applications.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in software requirements and verification of complex aerospace systems.
  • Familiarity with aerospace certification requirements including DO178.
  • Experience with simulation, scripting, test automation, and documentation (e.g., Veristand/LabView, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, DOORS).
  • Experience working on programs that use the Agile Framework.
  • Strong communication skills, experience with presenting technical data.
  • Aerospace experience.
