Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building and managing modern data stack environments, with proficiency in various tools and technologies. As a Principal Engineer, you will play a critical role in researching, designing, implementing, and maintaining our data integration solutions to support our business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the research, design, implementation, and development of data integration solutions using modern data stack technologies.
  • Utilize dbt (data build tool) for transforming and developing data models.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data manipulation and retrieval.
  • Design and develop data workflows using orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster.
  • Utilize Kubernetes for deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications.
  • Implement and manage streaming technologies such as Kafka, Redpanda, or Pulsar.
  • Manage object storage solutions like S3 or Azure Blob for data storage and retrieval.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data engineering and infrastructure.
  • Experience with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modeling.
  • Proficient in SQL.
  • Familiar with DevOps concepts and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with Parquet, Avro, CSV, JSON, YAML file formats.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
  • Expertise in streaming technologies and real-time data processing.
  • Proven experience with data orchestration tools.
  • Experience with relational databases and their management.
  • Linux experience (Ubuntu preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Highly desirable:

  • Develop and maintain Kafka connectors in a Kubernetes environment.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, and Bash scripting.
  • Manage and optimize relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of Graph DB technologies like Neo4j for graph data modeling and development.
  • Iceberg/Delta Lake table format knowledge.
