This is a Platform Engineering role which requires a blend of technical expertise in Docker, Kubernetes and related technologies, combined with the ability to collaborate and support development teams to ensure smooth operations on the platform.

Platform Services Operations is looking for a motivated and solution focused, hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to join us to boost effectiveness and accelerate delivery flow. Based in Manassas, VA, you will be working alongside a dynamic team of OpenShift Platform and containerization experts. Your team is fully responsible for the design, optimization and operations of the container based environment. This DevOps team engages in the product evolution; covering software architecture, development, quality assurance, security, operations and IT infrastructure aspects.
You will work in a truly international environment with main hubs across three continents. We have global reach and impact but operate fast as we are a relatively small company.

What to expect in this role:
- Organize and control day-to-day database administration/management activities to include Openshift cluster health data collection and analysis, database access and performance analysis.
- Resolve complex problems by investigating and devising solutions for operationalizing product deliverables. May include installations, configuration, tuning and maintenance of managed clusters.
- Interact with network services, database/software systems engineering and/or applications development in order to restore availability of services and/or identify root cause of complex problems.
- Define and implement recommendations for complex issues in the area of container platform management systems.

- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Requires 5-7 years of experience with DevOps for Container Platform Technologies.
- Experience working with the following:
- Kubernetes Application Development and/or Administration
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Highly proficient in developing metrics for Prometheus/Metrics/Elastic Monitoring
- Mandatory strong experience in Java or Python, Docker, Linux, and Git
- Java Programming: Specialist 3-10 years
- Docker: Specialist 5 years
- GIT: Specialist 5-10 years
- Prometheus or Elastic Specialist: 3 years
- Python programming: 3-5 years
- Enterprise Linux OS: 2-5 years
- Container deployments experience desired or strong understanding of docker deployment technologies
- Service design /architecture experience in Openshift environment
- DevOps/ Automation (scripting, Ansible, Terraform, etc..) /GitOps versed with modern technologies and best practices.
University degree in computer science or related field. Or equivalent work experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Kubernetes Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available Kubernetes infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Deployment Automation: Develop automated deployment processes for applications on Kubernetes, leveraging CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (GitOps) principles.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Implement monitoring and logging solutions to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, optimizing resource utilization and efficiency.
- Scalability and Resilience: Help architect solutions for scalability and resilience within Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices, manage access controls, and ensure compliance standards within the Kubernetes environment.
- Develop Openshift/Kubernetes security controls using Aquasec, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Mgmt, and/or Open Policy Agent.
- Develop Openshift/Kubernetes Operators using Python/Ansible/Java.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with development teams to understand their requirements, provide support, and assist in deploying and maintaining their applications on Kubernetes.
