About the Team

If yes, the Financial Scalability Team at Workday is right for you! We are seeking a talented experienced manager to lead a team of high performing software engineers who have multiple areas of expertise.

We triage problems related to performance, scale, fault tolerance and resiliency in a distributed computing environment and engage with the development teams to deliver the optimal customer experience. We build a suite of internal tools that serve a myriad of business requirements such as gather and diagnose logs, execute and interpret load tests, analyze big data in a simple manner using notebooks and many more use cases. Through this tool development we enable and empower all of Workday’s apps and services to take ownership of and deliver performance and scalability to different levels.

About the Role

We are looking for a leader to partner with other Engineering Managers to drive short term and long-term road map. Work with technically sophisticated engineers on some of the toughest engineering-wide performance and resiliency challenges. Empower the team to tackle problems for fellow performance engineers, data analysts and product managers at Workday by understanding their needs coming up with short term workarounds and long-term solutions. Develop, coach and mentor engineers with emotional intelligence helping them advance in their careers. Support the team to do its best work by innovating processes effectively.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of overall engineering background with at least 5+ years of in a leading software engineering teams (mentoring engineers, setting technical direction, leading performance etc).
  • 3+ years of demonstrated ability in software engineering with solid programming knowledge and hands-on experience with Java and related technologies.
  • 5+ years leading teams that built products or critical infrastructure or dev-ops or Performance and Scale.

Other Qualifications

  • Curiosity to explore and learn new Technologies, Platforms and problem spaces.
  • Good understanding of private & public cloud design considerations and limitations in the areas of virtualization, storage, networking, load balancing etc.
  • Consistent track record of delivering successfully within aggressive timelines while handling contending priorities.
  • The ability to grow with a high level of Autonomy and Responsibility.
  • Breadth of Technical Awareness to rally discussions on system Architecture.

Primary Location: USA.GA.Atlanta

Primary Location Base Pay Range: $142,400 - $213,600

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $135,300 - $254,400
