Summary/Objective:A Product Quality Engineer (PQE) organizes and directs the inspection and quality functions to meet the company’s and customer requirements for;Quality Assurance/EngineeringQuality ControlAuditsFunctions:Quality Assurance/Engineering Function sDeveloping and implementing quality management systems in manufacturingEstablishes proper quality control practicesEvaluates quality systems for deficienciesImplement improvements to enhance quality systemsCreating and maintaining company documentation, such as quality manuals, procedures and work instructionsReview contracts, drawings, routings, purchase orders, shop instructions and various related production and development plans for quality requirementsAssists qualification of new manufactured quality products/NPI.Conducts/coordinates measurement evaluations and/or tests (FAI, Gage R&R, MSA)Applies statistical process control (SPC) tools and methodsCollaborates with design engineers to assess the critical product characteristics that will be measuredDevelops training to improve awareness of quality control issuesQuality ControlDetermines the metrics/product characteristics that will be inspectedDetermines the methods/devices that will be used for inspectionSupervise, support, instruct and develop/train inspectorsInvestigate all customer complaints and issues.Work with appropriate representatives to eliminate defects using tools such as root cause and corrective actions, lean techniques, A3s, counter measures, six sigma, poka-yoke and/or error proofingParticipate as Material Review Board member to review and disposition Non-Conforming Material as suitableSupport quality goals and objectives along with activities to identify, explain and resolve quality issues.AuditsCoordinates and leads appropriate Nadcap AuditsParticipates in Quality System Audits (AS9100/AS13100)Participates in Internal AuditsCompetencies:Skilled in problem solving and analysisCapable of reading and interpreting drawingsAble to use and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)Ability to use all handheld and surface plate measurement devicesComputer skills (including MS Office suite of products)Strong communication skillsWorks well under pressureSteel Tool & Engineering Co. is committed to world class quality at competitive prices in the aerospace precision machinery and fabrication industry.
