Mechanical Specialist

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What You’ll Do

• Build and operate integrated test labs for one of the world's first FAA certified eVTOL aircraft
• Build and install test benches and rigs into the integrated test labs
• Setup and operate test equipment for data acquisition during initial subsystems integration testing
• Maintain lab documentation for lab modifications, repairs and upgrades
• Inspect the work of other engineers and technicians to ensure quality and conformity with design specifications
• Mentor other technicians to provide training on how to build and maintain complex subsystems test labs

What You Need

• Extreme attention to detail and high expectations for quality technical work
• 5+ years of experience as a mechanical technician
• Metalworking skills such as cutting, drilling and grinding on custom designed test rigs and benches
• Ability to operate a knee mill, and lathe and other similar manual machining equipment
• Excellent mechanic skills, for assembly of aircraft components into test setups
• Basic woodworking skills for build and modification of mockup structures
• A safety conscious mindset for ensuring the wellbeing of all working in the labs
• Set an example for a high standard of technical work for other team members

Bonus Qualifications

• A&P License
• Experience with FAA type certification and conformal test setups
• Familiarity with high voltage systems
