SUMMARY


The primary objective of the Systems Engineer is to develop technical solutions to customers application requirements, and ensure those solutions are materialized during project execution. The Systems Engineer will apply good engineering practices in designing systems while working with Project Managers, Electrical Designers/Programmers, Mechanical Designers on given executions. This role shall be performed under the direct supervision of the Engineering Manager.

Duties:

  1. Evaluates requests for quotation, obtains all necessary required missing information or data and resolves contradictory information.
  2. Verifies all system orders for accuracy and agreement with the quotation.
  3. Designs proposed systems to meet the customer's requirements.
  4. Selects and specifies all components that need to be quoted and included in the system design.
  5. Prepares and writes technical equipment specifications of the proposed system solution as per standard business practices.
  6. Identifies and takes lead in specifying customized features and components that meet design scope and customer's requirements. Providing required inputs to the Mechanical Designer, Electrical and Programming Engineers.
  7. On smaller jobs, as defined by Engineering Manager, performs Project Management related tasks involved with the system project. This includes but is not limited to maintaining the system project in the ERP system and communicating status with the customer.
  8. Responsible for Project from order kickoff until system is installed and accepted at customer site.
  9. Interfaces with customer and field personnel, on the phone and in person, providing information on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  10. Assists the Service Department, as requested, in establishing safe operating procedures and in resolving field problems.
  11. Provides field sales and Product/Marketing with technical information, such as reports, charts, monograph, and calculations to aid in selling the Busch Group products.
  12. Takes lead in executing and assisting Project Managers in managing the technical aspects of the system design process to meet customer expectations. This includes but is not limited to application knowledge, customer requirements, drawings and/or design compliance, system functionality and equipment testing.
  13. Prepares and finalizes System Manual with provided documents and inputs from the rest of the Engineering team.
  14. Gives prepared technical presentations, in house and in the field, to assist in marketing and training programs.
  15. Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  16. Presents information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors to better understand the job objectives.
  17. Collaborates with all Engineering department and intra-departmental personnel to ensure final design meets customer requirements.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job.

Education and/or Experience

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a mechanical or electrical engineering.
  2. 2-4 years of experience in industrial system design. Preference of experience with Vacuum and or Leak Detection technology
  3. Familiarity with various software programming, mechanical and electrical solutions.
  4. Customer interaction experience required.


Language Skills

The ability to communicate clearly in English verbally and in writing is essential. Reports, email correspondence, schedules and graphic presentations are all typical requirements of this position and must be effectively and professionally communicated. Demonstrated communication skills including experience in communicating ideas to clients in various ways.


Mathematical Skills

Superior math skills required. Strong knowledge of the mathematics that supports the industry is essential to provide technical assistance and expertise as required.


Reasoning Ability

Must be able to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a disciplined approach to oversee major customers’ needs. The ability to understand the customers’ requirements and plan the support strategy is essential. Must be able to solve both practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of factors in situations where only limited standardization exists.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver’s license is required.


TOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENT

This position uses a computer extensively with demonstrated abilities in the use of Microsoft products as well as other common office type equipment.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position may work in various environments including office, factory or home settings. Employees who are authorized to work from home are expected to comply with all company requirements for core work hours or in-person attendance at company meetings or events.
