Senior Principal Electrical Designer

Job Description: Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a candidate to provide electrical design for water and wastewater facility projects. They will serve as the senior level electrical designer on mid to large size projects for water and wastewater facilities. The position can be based in any of the Southern California offices (Los Angles, Irvine, San Diego).

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Develop Revit models, families, and construction plan drawings
• Develop CAD base files
• Coordinate electrical design with multiple disciplines
• Conduct client site visits as needed
• Perform 3D model clash detection and work with other disciplines to resolve conflicts
• Provide design and software training to less experienced staff working on projects
• Perform design QA/QC adhering to project CAD standards

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Knowledge in industrial power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, construction plan drawing development, including but not limited to: single line diagrams, site plans, aboveground and underground power/control plans, cable tray plans, lighting plans, ground plans, conduit and wire schedules, panel schedules, and installation details.
• Good working knowledge of the NEC and related Electrical Codes.
• Good communication skills, including interaction with Project Managers, Engineers, and Contractors.

Minimum Professional/Educational Qualifications:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree/technical certification
• 15+ years of relevant experience in heavy industrial Electrical design
• Proficient in 2D/3D design tools including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, and/or other relevant design software
• Experience leading the Electrical model and construction plan drawing development effort for projects
• Experience leading and coordinating Electrical drawing production
