Role Description

The Sr. Design Engineer will apply advanced engineering principles to design, modify, and develop innovative product designs using state-of-the-art computer software. This role involves creating detailed tooling designs, mylars, and CNC machine programs to support manufacturing processes. The Design Engineer will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product designs meet both technical specifications and quality standards, while optimizing manufacturing efficiency. This position plays a key role in driving product development from concept to production, ensuring designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with customer requirements.


Responsibilities:

  • Creates engineering, models, drawings, and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering/manufacturing software and equipment to accomplish tasks.
  • Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal.
  • Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.
  • Creates and presents technical data packages for review with peers, management, and customers.
  • Follows engineering data control procedures.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong focus on design and manufacturing.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in tool design engineering, preferably within the aerospace or manufacturing industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of tool design principles and their application to efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAE/CAM software such as Catia, Pro/E, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Nastran, or Mastercam.
  • Expertise in ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, with the ability to apply it effectively in design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex engineering challenges.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills, ensuring clear communication and precise engineering reports.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate designs.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard practices, concepts, and procedures, particularly within aerospace or manufacturing settings.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience with composites
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

The salary range for this role is $100,000-130,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this open role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
