Description

Millennium Health LLC is an accredited specialty laboratory with more than a decade of experience in medication monitoring and drug testing services, helping clinicians monitor the use and misuse of prescription medications and illicit drugs. The testing is used by healthcare professionals to obtain objective information about patients' recent use of prescription medications and/or illicit drugs and helps monitor the effectiveness of treatment plans.

The Data Engineer will be responsible for the testing, analysis, development, and maintenance of data pipeline processes and applications. The position will be about 80% testing and validation of Data Services processes and 20% development. Previous experience using ETL software is desirable. Ideal candidates will be passionate about exceeding client expectations and are driven to learn new data engineering technologies. In addition, candidates must be able to understand complex data structures and will have a strong understanding of logical and physical database design.

The following are intended to be examples of the accountabilities for which the person in this position is responsible:

1. 80% testing and validation of data pipelines, dbt models, and enterprise reports and data sources.
2. 20% development of data pipelines, dbt model, and Tableau and SSRS reporting.
3. Performing all testing and validation of data transformations to populate data into a warehouse table structure that is optimized for reporting.
4. Recent testing and development working with relational as well as NoSQL data stores and data lake methods and approaches (logging, columnar, star and snowflake, dimensional modeling).
5. Experience testing and performance tuning SQL and data pipelines in OLAP and Data Warehouse environments.
6. Establishing efficient design and programming patterns for engineers.
7. Designing, integrating and documenting technical components for seamless data extraction and analysis.
8. Ensuring best practices that can be adopted in our data systems and share across teams.
9. Working in a team environment, interacting with multiple groups daily (very strong communication skills).
10. Must be able to work on-site in the San Diego office.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• 2+ Years experience testing data pipelines, data structures, and enterprise reports.
• 2+ Years experience with ETL Development using tools like SnapLogic, SSIS, Talend, and others.
• 2+ Years experience with writing, debugging, and performance tuning SQL code.
• 2+ Years experience with transactional and dimensional database design and development.
• 2+ Years experience working with visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience with Data Warehouse design, ETL and ELT models, and architecting efficient software designs for DW platform.
• Knowledge of database modeling and design in a Data Warehousing context.
• Strong familiarity with data warehouse best practices.
• Strong SQL skills, having worked with relational and non-relational databases.
• Comfortable working within an AWS environment preferred.
• Ability to work with others or independently.
• Experience with HIPAA compliance preferred.
• Proactive individual with good written and verbal communications required.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position will require the following physical requirements: sitting (75%), walking (15%), standing (10%), lifting up to (10 pounds).

This position will require the following mental requirements: Ability to reason through problems to reach solutions, troubleshooting ability, effective written and verbal communications skills, and ability to see, type, speak on the phone and work with various departments within the company.

ADDITIONAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

This position will require the following mental requirements: while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high pressure/high stress situations. He/she works in a typical office environment and is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical office machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some travel to job sites and other offices is required. Must be able to travel and work extended schedule as needed.

Salary Range: $90,000 - 105,000 per year.

Salary offered is dependent on qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
