DNV’s Energy Management Technology group is seeking a DevOps Engineer. We are a BPM and Workflow Automation SaaS Product Provider for energy and wider industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration. You will be responsible for maintaining our infrastructure, ensuring efficient deployment and operation of our software.

This role is based at our DNV office in Jersey City, NJ. Other location of DNV Houston, TX office can also be considered.

What You'll Do:

  • Database Management: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade database software and hardware. Ensure optimal performance and implement security best practices.
  • Data Security & Integrity: Safeguard sensitive information. This includes defining user access controls, implementing security protocols, and monitoring for suspicious activity.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and fine-tune the system for efficient operation. This may involve Index Management and query optimization.
  • Monitoring: Keep track of resource utilization of the database instance(s) and take actions to maintain the resource utilization to the acceptable threshold.
  • Review access: Periodically review the user access and permissions to ensure unauthorized access is prevented.
  • Review logs: Analyze the logs to check that only privileged operations are carried out by the users and detect any anomalies to determine suspicious activities.
  • Cost analysis: On a monthly basis analyze the incurred cost and ensure that the charges are within the acceptable limits. Apply cost optimization procedures for savings.
  • Capacity Planning: Proactively plan for future database growth by ensuring sufficient resources to accommodate user demands.
  • Support Activities on Database: Execute database scripts, manage user accounts and permissions, and data migrations.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with developers to ensure seamless database integration and development.

What Is Required:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience as a DBA and intermediate SQL, MongoDB skills.
  • Experience managing Postgres database in cloud such as AWS RDS, understanding the Postgres roles and permissions, hands on with log analysis and monitoring Postgres and configuring parameter groups.
  • Hands-on with MongoDB cluster administration tasks such as access controls, performance monitoring, query optimization, backups and restoration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

What Is Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure is highly preferable. Equivalent experience in Azure or GCP is welcome.
